Dorothea

Born around 554 BC in the village of Aulon near Sagri, Dorothea grew up listening to stories of distant lands and dreaming of becoming a merchant like her father. Her life changed when she fell in love with Karion, a gifted young engineer whose vision helped transform Naxos. Through war, revolution, love and loss, Dorothea witnessed the birth of a new age: the rise of democracy, the construction of the sanctuary of Gyroulas and the successful defence of the island against Persian-backed invaders. Her story preserves the memory of one of the most remarkable chapters in Naxian history.
